Dearest Friends and Family,

Thank you all for your support of our dear friend, sister, cousin, niece and daughter Elizabeth throughout this difficult time.

Elizabeth was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in November, a couple days after her sister Sarah’s wedding. Elizabeth loved being there by her sister’s side that special weekend and was her usual energetic, gregarious, smiley self -- dancing up a storm at the reception -- so it came as a shock to us when we found out she had cancer.

Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare bone cancer that often appears in children and young adults. It usually must be treated with a combination of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. It can be anywhere in the body; Elizabeth’s tumor is located on the side of her neck close to the spine. She is nearing the end of her initial six rounds of chemo. Each treatment is a 21 day cycle beginning with chemo being administered for the first 4 days of that cycle. Following these rounds of treatment, Elizabeth will undergo surgery to remove the rest of the tumor. The hope is that the surgeons can remove all of it, but because of its location near the spine, she may have to go through radiation treatment and possibly more chemotherapy.

Elizabeth was uprooted from Seattle to move back to Houston for care at Methodist Hospital and to surround herself with her loving family. Methodist Hospital offers the resource of the CarePages website, where Elizabeth communicates with her friends and family about what she is going through. CarePages is a great way for us to participate in Elizabeth’s journey regardless of where we are in the world to form a community of support around her, her family and each other. Elizabeth’s last round of chemo is Monday, February the 21st. To celebrate her life and the completion of this round of treatment, we are holding a benefit on February 17th in Houston to assist Elizabeth with her medical expenses. This benefit is a chance to financially support Elizabeth, but, more importantly, to be there with her to give her the strength she needs to enter the next stage of treatment and beat this cancer for good. Elizabeth has always been selfless, generous, supportive and kind. Her big heart and continued positivity throughout this difficult time serves as a constant inspiration to us all. The fundraiser is a way to collectively show her how much we appreciate her inspiration and give back to her.

Helping Hands Ministries has set up an account, the Elizabeth Lodowski Medical Project, to help Elizabeth’s family and friends make the process of giving to her easier as well as tax deductible. “The Fall of the Human Intellect”

Synopsis:

Humanity has stopped thinking. The paucity of thought, reason and judgement has left the human intellect emaciated. Educational institutions focus on providing only knowledge, intelligence with no plan or program to develop the intellect (reasoning ability).

This loss of intellectual development has left humans with stress, depression, disease, etc. and the world with militancy and privation. More deeply, this fall has deprived us of our original, spiritual stature. Humanity now faces an urgent need to rehabilitate, reconstruct the fallen intellect.

With the re-development of the human intellect, called ‘buddhi’ in Sanskrit, humanity can recover peace and productivity both individually and on the societal level. Ultimately, a strong intellect can take one to the highest state of consciousness known as Self-Realization.

Rangarajan will introduce the Vedanta philosophy as a means for strengthening the intellect, reducing stress and strain and leading us to the spiritual awakening we are heir to.

R Rangarajan is originally from Chennai, India and is a senior disciple of Swami Parthasarathy. After a brief stint as a consultant in the management services industry, he took to full time study and research on Vedanta (Indian philosophy) at the Vedanta Academy in Malavli Hills, near Pune, in India. After completing 6 years of full time research and practice at the Academy, Rangarajan served as its resident representative and faculty in various cities throughout India. For the past 5 years, he has been assigned to the United Arab Emirates.
He offers weekly study sessions on Vedanta, utilizing various Vedantic texts including the Bhagavad Gita. He also conducts Vedanta retreats for all age groups. He has been a guest faculty at colleges and various private companies, corporations and institutes.
Ranga will arrive in the US next week and will be based in Houston. He will serve the non-profit Vedanta Cultural Foundation, USA (www.vedantausa.org) in a full-time capacity. Ranga will spend equal time in Austin and Houston, offering donation-based classes for the public, in-house retreats for companies and other groups and will help arrange Swami Parthasarathy’s upcoming US tours.
This will be Ranga’s first talk in America.

Latina Youth Organization Selling Photo Art in Time for the Holidays
Latinitas' Elementary, Middle and High School Photo Artists Show and Sell Work

AUSTIN, TX - Give a child or a teen a camera and she'll give you perspective you never considered, says Latinitas' Program Coordinator Brooke Maudlin.

Maudlin is one of many program facilitators for Latinitas' (www.latinitasmagazine.org), the first digital magazines made for and by young Latinas, outreach programs in Austin .

Latinitas is hosting a Fiesta Photo Show at Progress Coffee ( 500 San Marcos Street ) at 5pm on Sat., Dec 5th. Student photography generated in Latinitas' dozens of after school clubs will be on display for sale at $5-$10 a pop.

"This is not just a great resource for holiday gifts, but the Hispanic girls and teens in our programs will see their work appreciated by others than themselves," said Maudlin. "The resulting confidence boost is what we aim for in these clubs."

Started over six years ago in a University of Texas media class then-students, now founders Alicia Rascon and Laura Donnelly Gonzalez publish the work of Latina girls, teens and college students online every month on Latinitasmagazine.org and TeenLatinitas.org. They launched their first print edition of the magazine in 2009 and plan a second in 2010. Latinitas has served nearly 10,000 girls with its esteem-boosting after school programming, camps, workshops, media conference, service learning opportunities and a teen reporter internship - outreach models Latinitas are positioning for national expansion. Latinitas magazines' bilingual content is read by girls and teens all over the country as well as in Spain , Mexico and other parts of Latin America .

Latinitas also expanded its program model to El Paso , Texas and Las Cruces , New Mexico for the first time last year.

George Bird O'Dwyer George Bird O'Dwyer of Austin entered the presence of his Savior and Lord on Oct. 4, 2009. He was born Feb. 6, 1954, in Dallas to Biddy and Tom O'Dwyer. George and Ann's faithful walk and contagious serenity, touched many lives. George approached the challenge of his illness with the same dignity, courage and tenacity with which he approached life. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted son, brother, uncle, stepfather and friend. He was passionate, generous, thoughtful, funny, sentimental, full of life, and always fun to be around. He was a caregiver, an entertainer, a cowboy, a music lover and a sports enthusiast. He loved Austin and loved sharing it with friends and family. He had style - his own style - that only he could pull off. He was phenomenally creative, evidenced in all facets of his life. George was a 1973 graduate of Highland Park High School and a 1977 graduate of Texas Tech University where in 2006 he was named an Outstanding Alumnus by the College of Mass Communications. At Tech, George was a cheerleader and was president of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, where he was the personification of a True Gentleman. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the U.S. Marshall's posse in Dallas and a board member of the Walt Garrison MS Rodeo. In Austin, he was a board member of Texas Pacific Film and Video and Friends of Texas Public Schools. He was a 30-year veteran of the television, film and the recording industry and exhibited an undying passion for this industry. He left his most recent mark with 501 Post in Austin, where he served as executive producer and partner. He received many prestigious industry awards, including two Clio's, two Cannes Lions and numerous Telly's and Addy's. George was preceded in death by his father, Thomas A. O'Dwyer, and brother-in-law, John Franklin Miller III. In addition to his wife, Ann, and her daughter, Hannah, he is survived by his mother, Jeanne Bird (Biddy) O'Dwyer, his siblings and their spouses Ann and Hugh Blackwell, Kay Miller, Mary and Tom O'Dwyer, and Lisa and Bill O'Dwyer. He is also survived by his 15 nieces and nephews, Tod, Peter, Michael, Bridget, John, Julia, Spence, Liza, Trevor, Patrick, Corey, Shay, Ryan, Elli and Billy. The family wishes to offer special thanks to Cindy Lawther Custer, Dr. Morris Groves, Kathleen Grigsdale, Be Pei, and all the staff at MD Anderson. Whole Foods Market to carry Austin-based coffee from nationally-known green café, created by Progress Coffee

(AUSTIN) – In Austin, when one-pound bags of Progress Coffee are delivered to Whole Foods Market’s downtown flagship store, it’s done by bicycle. Riders transport the coffee along a nearly four-mile route from the Central Austin headquarters of Owl Tree Roasting (Progress’s sister coffee roasting company) – in part to show the viability of biking in Austin’s urban environment, and in part to fulfill Whole Foods Market’s promise to customers that Progress is bike-delivered coffee.

On Friday, July 31, the Whole Foods Market store at the Alamo Quarry Market in San Antonio will fulfill the same promise – only the route will be an eighty-mile, seven-hour endurance test, along a series of less-traveled highways and back roads, in what could be another record-setting day of triple-digit temperatures.

John Trujillo, co-owner of Beat the Clock Bike Messengers in Austin, will deliver the coffee, leading a small group of cyclists from a sendoff party at Progress Coffee (500 San Marcos, Austin) at 7:30 a.m., with a planned arrival at Whole Foods Market’s Quarry store (255 E. Basse Road, San Antonio) at 3 p.m.

“We’re fully committed to sustainable living, and delivering coffee by bike rather than car is one of just many choices we consciously make,” said Joshua Bingaman, founder and owner of Progress Coffee. “Bike delivery from Austin to San Antonio isn’t the easiest thing to do, but we hope showing that it’s possible will inspire people to think about a whole range of easier, green choices they could be making.”

Since opening in 2004, the East Austin café has received regional and even national attention as a sustainable business as well as a popular meeting place, incorporating corn-based plastics, composting, and recycling into its operations.

Bingaman, and his Owl Tree Roasting co-owner and head roaster Travis Kizer, will be in San Antonio to help welcome the inaugural bike delivery to Whole Foods at the Quarry – followed by an in-store event, allowing customers to taste the café’s signature organic, fair-trade blend of Indonesian, Central and South American coffee.

“It’s a blend that a lot of people in Austin recognize and love,” said Kizer of the signature Progress blend. “We’re grateful to Whole Foods for the chance to bring it to people in San Antonio.”

Future deliveries of Progress coming to San Antonio will be made via a combination of bicycle and motor vehicle – bikes will take the coffee from Owl Tree to trucks at the Whole Foods Market distribution center in Southeast Austin.

S.O.S Update - A note from Sam re: the next phase- radiation

We had a good visit w/ the head nurse and one of the doctor team members who will be
doing the gamma knife procedure on the remaining part of the meningioma (growth)
that is remaining in my head and the growth that is on my left IAC (Inner Auditory
Canal).  The lead doctor was not in the office, so we were not able to meet her
today.  The two we met were very nice and helpful - very willing to answer questions
and explain the procedure.  I can see why these consultations ahead of the surgery
are necessary, but I wish I had understood from the beginning what this appointment
was about.

It will probsbly be at least a couple of weeks before the radiation can be
scheduled.  Several people will be a part of the team, so they have to schedule the
radiation around their availability.  The DR said that on the day of the radiation,
we'll get started very early (5-6 am).  First thing they'll do is fasten my head
inside a metal frame.  Then I'll have an very detailed MRI.  After that the medical
team will meet to map out the procedure.  Each treatment is specifically designed
for that particular patient.  For some, the radiation is fairly quick, but, from the
way Dr. White talked earlier and from what the DR today said, it will be several
hours.  They may even take me out of the machine and let me sit up.  Not sure how
that will work!  I think the purpose will be to let me change positions, but, more
importantly, to allow time for the doctors to map out the next part of their plan as
they move to another area.

I will not be under a general anesthesia.  They will provide local anesthesia to the
areas of my head where the frame will be attached.  They said I will not even feel
this part, which will be done by my neurosurgeon, Dr. White.  After that and the
MRI, I will be given something during the radiation to help me relax and I will
probably sleep during most of the radiation.  The RN & DR were both very reassuring
about the gamma knife radiation treatment and said it will not be a difficult,
painful experience.

Sorry I did not get this to you sooner.  I rested some when I got home.  We'll let
you know when we hear about a date.

It is so good to write to you!!

Following the successful removal of the large tumor from back of my head, I have developed a new appreciation for the fact that I can say, "Good to see you . . . talk to you . . . be with you, etc." But, now, there is a special joy in being able to write to you, as a large number of people I have never met, yet you have been so amazingly caring, thoughtful, and generous. I know this is the result of your knowing one or both of my sons-in-law, Joshua Bingaman and Mauricio Cremer. Jenny and I are very blessed to have these men and a third man, Dan Gridley (here in OKC), as members of our family. I believe you can see from their writings that they are not just "sons" by the legal terms of marriage, they are "sons" in honor, integrity, love, respect, and comfort. The giving of themselves, along with my wonderful daughters, during my hospital stay and home recovery has been a truly remarkable picture of how people can provide comfort, protection, and encouragement to someone in need. Out of your relationship with them, you have chosen to graciously and generously give to me your thoughts, prayers and financial gifts. I am humbled and my heart is filled with gratitude by your participation through S.O.S.

I came home from the hospital on Monday, 12/22, one week after surgery, which was amazing in itself. I hope you have read the previous update by Joshua on the surgery, so I won't bother with going over that. We truly rejoice over the fact that there were no major repercussions from the presence and removal of the tumors, especially given the size of the growths. Healing of the incision has gone well. Staples were placed in the back of my head down to my neck to close the incision and they were removed last Tuesday, 12/30. There is still some swelling in the area of the incision, but nothing to unduly concern the Dr. Overall the medical team is pleased with the surgery and the progress I've made. I have been able to come completely off the high-powered pain medication which was prescribed for use during recovery. I still have pain, especially in my neck and down to my left shoulder area, due to some muscles having to be moved during surgery. There are also some pains that come and go in my head as healing takes place, but these can now be taken care of through over the counter meds. I am very thankful for this.

Since I have never been through surgery before, I had not anticipated some of the breathing, swallowing, digestion, and sleeping problems which I have encountered. This made my first week at home a little difficult at times. But, thankfully, these are no longer issues of concern.

Other than wait for my body to heal itself through God's miraculous design and healing presence, the next step will be radiation for the remaining 2% of the large area of growth near the top of the spinal column and the growth located on my left auditory canal, which is fairly large and has caused considerable hearing loss in my left area. We thought this radiation would be later in January, but they it scheduled on Friday, January 9. I will very much appreciate your thoughts and prayers on this day.

Well, I must close. Jenny and I are truly overwhelmed by your support. The presence of a God who is always faithful and the knowledge of a crowd of people like you who have simply made the choice to enter our world is a truly awesome thing. Every day I think of you and thank God for you all.

I came home and sat down with the last few journalistic updates I did for S.O.S and did some editing and finished with the below novella still in journal style--- but condensing the last week+ and attempting to dictate Sam's strength through this process this just seemed the most senseful. Jump to the bottom for the latest update or read the process if you're one of the many who have been so eager to know and help and keep up to speed on Sam's progress....thank you for your patience in my lengthy response.

First of all, Sam, his family and I wish to thank you for continuing to keep Sam in your thoughts and prayers, and for continuing to share the www.supportoursam.com site with your friends. The out pouring of love, kindness and generosity in and around and through Sam’s ordeal have been astounding, and the grace being shown via such is not only humbling but encouraging beyond words.

Sam's surgery on Monday, 12/15, was incredibly complicated and intense but ultimately went wonderfully. An arduous 6 hour procedure—yet 2 hours less than expected—the doctor said it couldn't have gone better. The largest of the tumors in the back of Sam’s head was "enormous"- so much so the surgeon could put his whole fist in the hole it left directly above Sam’s brain stem. They were able to remove 98% of the tumor; the remaining 2% will hopefully be destroyed via radiation—the same procedure they’ll use to eradicate the remaining tumors surrounding his ear canal.

Despite his pain and hardship, Sam has remained positive throughout this ordeal. Even on Monday morning, just moments before the surgery, laying in the cold, sterile, fluorescent-lit room, Sam looked up at us, his family—the creases of age and wisdom around his eyes deepened from fatigue and damp with tears of tenderness and fear—and said quietly yet firmly, "We have so much to be thankful for."

Late last night in the ICU, I looked down at Sam who seemed so small and meek laying there in his cramped hospital bed. With his lips chapped and swollen from the feeding tubes, his throat and neck muscles constricted from the pain, straining to breathe and struggling to relieve his extreme discomfort, Sam tried to speak. Barely audible over the hissing of the oxygen tank and the beeping of various monitors all aglow, he asked for some ice to wet his dry lips and dampen his parched pallet. And once again, tears of pain now running down his cheeks, Sam whispered softly, "I am so thankful."

Tonight, it's now just past 1AM and I am sitting beside Sam’s bed. A freezing wind blows noisily outside, a small clock radio on the nightstand, per Sam’s request, softly plays the likes of Chopin and Debussy. Sam has been asleep a few hours now—a brief moment of calm for him amongst these recent weeks of storm, a deserved peace from the past days of chaos and the coming days of difficult recovery. My laptop softly ablaze, I post this message and think...we have so much to be grateful for.
And I am so thankful.

Thurs 12/18- 7pm.
As expected, the days immediately following his surgery have been extremely painful—and emotional—for Sam. By our taking shifts throughout the days and nights, Sam is never without family by his side to help ensure proper care and comfort. It's awesome and moving to watch a family come to arms in such an instinctive manner.

After two days and nights in ICU, Sam has moved to the recovery unit of the neurosurgery unit. Tonight has been a relatively good one and he’s needed less pain meds than before. The doctors and nurses are all astounded at his progress. His mind and thoughts are keen and clear and his dexterity is superb. Within the last 12 hours he has gotten up from his bed, walked with a walker and, true to form, is spending time getting to know all his doctors and nurses and thanking them for their help and attention.

Sam was expected to stay at the hospital for at least another week+ for physical therapy aftercare. But when the doctor saw him today he said he'd likely discharge Sam tomorrow or Saturday. What the?!!? Damn, all of the prayers, thoughts, good wishes and good energy being sent to the “405” (for all you non-Okies, that’s the Oklahoma City area code) are definitely making a HUGE difference. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING OUR SAM! Keep spreading the love and I'll keep you posted.

Sam was released from the hospital today, just one week after brain surgery—and at least one week sooner than expected. The doctors are blown away by the speed of his recovery. Of course Sam’s family and good friends are not quite as shocked. I say this because throughout his life and ministry, Sam has always been the strong, silent type who always gets the job done. His particular trick is to do so ‘old-school’—under-the-rad

ar, without drawing attention to himself or his actions. So it’s no surprise he’s approached his illness and recovery in the same way—with determination, willfulness, gratitude and without complaint- always without complaint.

When Sarah spoke to Sam earlier today, he told her he was grateful to be going home so soon, especially with Christmas almost upon us. He attributed his good fortune to all the prayers and support he and Jenny have received—and quietly wept. It’s clear he’s incredibly moved and humbled by the outpouring of love and, honestly, probably feels somewhat undeserving. Actually, I know he does. He told us he "doesn't deserve this grace."

The doctors have warned us that despite Sam bouncing back so quickly after surgery, the next phase of his convalescence promises to be long and difficult. Pain will be constant—some days better than others, to be sure—but without immediate relief. Sam will be restricted to bed-rest for at least a month or more and will need constant monitoring and attention, which of course is not his most choice lifestyle ;-). Beginning as early as February, Sam will be in and out of the hospital for radiation to destroy the remaining tumors. Like the surgery itself, this process holds an unseen process for Sam and is of course not something we necessarily look forward to.

At this point extended family is prepared to take turns watching him, and many close friends are selflessly offering to cook, grocery shop and help with other chores (please consult the “Care Calendar” at the bottom of the www.supportoursam.com website). Even with the incredible help daily from friends and family, Jenny will be unable to return to work for the entire length of Sam’s continued treatment and recuperation. Basic living expenses will be difficult to come by, much less Sam’s ongoing—and increasingly overwhelming—medical bills.

But please know that neither I nor other family members—particularly Sam and Jenny—want anyone to feel sorry for them or have pity on their situation. We are completely blown away by the help, support (financially and emotionally and spiritually) and prayers already sent Sam’s way. Many of you have already planned, brought meals, offered transportation, made repairs (including repairing and re-tiling their bathroom!). However, numerous needs will arise—including, of course, Sam and Jenny’s financial obligations. And that's a main part of the lifeline in sending out this "S.O.S" in the first place. And why it has been so freaking amazing thus far...people have answered our call for help. YOU have answered.
So please do whatever you can, and I encourage all of you to ask friends and family members if they might want to help as well. The amount of people that have told me how good it feels to give and share the love thru this opportunity has been mind blowing. And I don't think we even realize yet how far reaching this cause will be.

A lifetime of unparalleled giving returned with exceptional and unexpected giving.
A man whose whole mentality is overrun with love for others returned with unprecedented love from others.
And most of it from men and women whom he's never met...
it doesn't get much more beautiful than that.

I know I speak for the entire family when I say thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU—even though words cannot do justice to how we feel about everything that’s been done on Sam and Jenny’s behalf. I’ll post another update very soon.

I hope this blog post finds you well and in the holiday spirit.

I'm afraid this letter is not the usual cheery (some might say cheesy ;-) Progress news full of good laughs, sneak peaks of great offers and fun stuff happening in and around the cafe'.

Instead, what I'm about to share with you is sad family news that's weighing heavy on my heart. So as you indulge me, please forgive me for using the Progress Posse Newsletter in this way. However, I'm confident you know and hopefully have experienced the purpose and power of the Progress Posse which is all about community and support as well as spreading goodness and kindness in ways that benefit us all.

With that thought in mind, I'd like to introduce you to my father-in-law, Sam Broughton (my wife Sarah's dad and our son Samuel's namesake- pictured together here). Sam and Sarah's mom, Jenny, live in Oklahoma City where Sam has been a Southern Baptist minister for most of his 30 year ministry.

After several months of increasingly painful headaches, sinus pressure and hearing loss in one of his ears, Sam underwent an MRI two weeks ago. Sadly, it revealed several brain tumors in the back of his head towards his brain stem as well as around his ear canal. A biopsy showed that the larger tumors are benign and operable, which was the answer to a lot of prayers. However, Sam must under go major surgery on December 15th to remove three tumors followed by a course of radiation which may render him deaf in that ear.

True to his nature, Sam remains positive and is holding up well. Of course, it's been damn hard on the family to say the least. Sam is a wonderful father and grandfather who has taken great care of and is very much loved by Jenny and their three amazing daughters: Jana, Sarah and Abbie. As for my wife Sarah, the news has been hard because she and her dad are extremely close. Sam is a strong, loving presence in her life (as he is for her two sisters and their husbands and kids), and since my marriage he's had a profound impact on me as well. For instance, Sam's support and encouragement were instrumental in the creation of Progress (he even helped me build the main bar at the café).

In fact, Sam has made his career all about being an anchor in other people's lives. Like his father before him, Sam has served multiple communities over the course of his ministry. He began as a youth minister in Texas and acquired his theological degree in seminary while working full time and being a strong and supportive husband and father.

Throughout his ministry, Sam has selflessly served his congregations while also working behind the scenes in his neighborhoods and communities, which for him were not defined by geography. A self taught carpenter, he has spent dozens of summers all over the U.S. and South America leading young people in building and repairing houses for those less fortunate. Sam has visited thousands of sick people in their homes and at hospitals, bringing them hope and peace. He has stood by many at their death beads, holding their hands, praying for them, providing kindness and comfort, and sharing with them the love in his soul.

Sam never talks about his actions, nor does he complain about the many sacrifices he and his family have made in service to others. He truly is the altruistic archetype who are seemingly born to dedicate their lives to bringing joy and security to others-usually at great cost to themselves. They're the rare benevolent ones who have so much concern for others that it's as if kindness is the lifeblood rushing through their veins and love is the very marrow in their bones.

And even in times of great distress, the hearts of these chosen ones are still somehow filled with gratitude. When I called him on Thanksgiving, shortly after his diagnosis, he told me multiple times how "many things we have to be grateful for." He's a wise man, seemingly quiet and stoic, yet full of joy, love, peace, passion and grace.True role models like Sam are welcome gifts to those of us lucky enough to cross their paths.

It's an understatement to say that Sam has been a blessing in my life, and as you now know has blessed many people's lives. Knowing him as I do, I believe Sam truly never expected any "reward" in this lifetime, only that God might forever keep him close to His heart. But Sam now faces an unthinkable medical and emotional trauma that no one-not even Sam-could possibly be prepared for. And let me be blunt-very few of us are financially prepared to deal with such a situation-particularly those among us who've completely dedicated their lives to others.

So that's the reason for this letter-to ask that you now join me in supporting Sam and Jenny in their time of need.

It's that time of year again-the anniversary of the opening of Progress Coffee. Thanks to lots of super good TLC, crazy awesome support from the community and yes, hard work, Progress continues to thrive while proudly promoting Austin's righteous coffee, food, art and music cultures.

My favorite definition of "progress" is "continual betterment," and on every one of these past 1,460 days (and counting), I stay mindful of what "progress" means. My daily reminder? The green Progress sign on the roof.

By definition I work continually to improve Progress' food, beverage, and service. But beyond the café's responsibility to you and other loyal patrons, we also try to continually better ourselves.

One way we do this is by contributing to our community. In so doing, Progress has decided to commemorate the Big 0-4 by opening our cash drawer to you and to charity.

So on Thursday, November 20th, everything we brew, bake, heat or fix at Progress will be FREE. Gratis. Complimentary (with our compliments, of course).

That's right; all day long, all of it-coffee, food and drinks-will be on the house with no strings, no tricks, no catch-no joke. That's almost 13 hours of complete and sweet FREEness.

Hello and a happy week of late September to you! Week of late September---Huh?
I want to let you know that this Saturday, Sept. 27, Progress Coffee will be doing a coffee tasting demo at the Whole Foods on Lamar and 6th from 11AM to 3PM. We'll have our new Progress delivery bike on display custom made with love by Giano bikes---dope!
We'd love it if you showed up in any Progress t-shirt (past or present, Progress Posse, Progress Cycling, Cafe de Progress, whatevs!) and showed your Progress Posse Pride. We'll even give you free drink tickets to Progress for representing! Hell, we'll hug you too...if you want a hug.
That's right, FREE fabuloso coffee tasting and we'll be giving away other sweet goodies!
